| Advocacy In Action |
Advocacy In Action• Focus Day 2012- Thank you to those members who were able to join us in Olympia for this year's Focus Day! Your support really DOES make a difference in the education and advocacy efforts for every student.• Eye on Olympia: The House and Senate Ways and Means Chair’s proposed budgets are out, and they do not significantly impact the Issaquah School District next school year (good news!). A proposal has been put forward, however, that would cause considerable cuts to our operations budget in the following school years by reducing our M&O levy authority. Stay tuned as the session continues and the Senate, House, and Governor settle on a final budget. • Eye on Washington (the other one): As our state superintendent has recently made news by requesting a waiver from No Child Left Behind sanctions, our school board members are working with Congressmen to reauthorize the important education law. • April 17th Vote for the Bond- Just a friendly reminder that March 19th, 2012 is the official deadline to register to vote for our local bond. Is There An Important Man In Your Child's Life?Washington State PTA invites all children to enter the Men's Essay Contest!Men make a difference in the lives of the children they care about, and children are more successful in and out of school when they have the guidance of an involved male role model — a father, grandfather, uncle, brother, step-father, teacher, mentor, neighbor, pastor/priest, coach, or friend. Washington State PTA advocates for all children and all families, and as part of that advocacy we are promoting a statewide essay contest that explores this vital relationship - from our children’s perspective. All entries by students shall include an essay no more than 650 words that describes how a male role model — any male who plays a role in their personal life - has made a difference. Cookie Dough/Gift Wrap Pick-up this Friday!Product pickup is scheduled for this Friday, Nov. 18th from 3:00-6:00pm in the MPR. All orders MUST BE PICKED UP, please arrange with a friend if you cannot make it during this time. Please check your order IMMEDIATELY. If adjustments need to be made, you must call Innisbrook directly, the telephone number is on the outside of your box to report any problems or questions. Be sure to include the school name, the student name, the teacher name and tell them what the problem is. Problems must be reported WITHIN 3 DAYS. Corrections will be shipped to the school and delivered to your students classroom. If you ordered magazines please look for a voucher in your order for these items. It's a call to action for families in our community to visit the Issaquah Schools Foundation website and “click” to donate to the foundation. Watch for LIME GREEN "Nose Count" cards!District lime green "Nose Count" cards started coming home this week, so check your mail for yours. "Counting noses” each summer is the way the school makes sure that we have enough teachers and supplies on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 30, AND that all student names are included on the class lists when they are published.When your card arrives, you will need to verify the school's information before the July 29th deadline using one of two easy methods: 1. You can correct or validate the card’s information and return it to the school through the mail (Postage is pre-paid for you). 2. You can go to the District website to the “verify enrollment” link and send an e-mail to the school telling them whether the lime green card information is correct or needs correcting. Thank you for taking the time to help ensure that school enrollment numbers are correct, that our classrooms are prepared, and that each child’s name appears on a class list for that very important first day of school on August 30! | 6/10/2011 | 8/4/2011 |
