Washington State PTA invites all children to enter the Men's Essay Contest!

Men make a difference in the lives of the children they care about, and children are more successful in and out of school when they have the guidance of an involved male role model — a father, grandfather, uncle, brother, step-father, teacher, mentor, neighbor, pastor/priest, coach, or friend. Washington State PTA advocates for all children and all families, and as part of that advocacy we are promoting a statewide essay contest that explores this vital relationship - from our children’s perspective.

All entries by students shall include an essay no more than 650 words that describes how a male role model — any male who plays a role in their personal life - has made a difference. Deadline is March 1, 2012.

Cookie Dough/Gift Wrap Pick-up this Friday!

Product pickup is scheduled for this Friday, Nov. 18th from 3:00-6:00pm in the MPR. All orders MUST BE PICKED UP, please arrange with a friend if you cannot make it during this time. Please check your order IMMEDIATELY. If adjustments need to be made, you must call Innisbrook directly, the telephone number is on the outside of your box to report any problems or questions. Be sure to include the school name, the student name, the teacher name and tell them what the problem is. Problems must be reported WITHIN 3 DAYS. Corrections will be shipped to the school and delivered to your students classroom. If you ordered magazines please look for a voucher in your order for these items. Mustang Club kids are welcome to pick-up after school during Mustang Club but must be accompanied by club leader until 6:00pm. For more info contact Maya Quinn

Thank you to all those who attended our PTA General Membership Meeting last week! With your help we were able to vote in our budget, approve changes to the Standing Rules, and agree on our goals for the 2011-2012 school year. Thank you to Pam Hughes, ISF Board Representative, and Jenell Tamaela, Sunny Hills ISF Representative, for sharing the All in For Kids campaign update. We’d also like to thank our special ISD guests, Dr. Steve Rasmussen, Superintendent; Sara Niegowski, Executive Director of Communications; and Steve Crawford, Director of Capital Projects, for sharing critical information on the upcoming April 2012 bond issue as well as addressing specific questions from our community about the proposed Sunny Hills rebuild. General Member Mtg- Oct. 20th, 6:30PM

Please plan to join us for our first General Membership meeting of the school year. This is a very important meeting starting at 6:30PM. Special guests from ISD, Steve Crawford and Jake Kuper, will be here to share critical information on the upcoming April 2012 bond issue and address specific questions about the proposed Sunny Hills rebuild. They are coming at OUR request to inform the Sunny Hills community about the importance of this bond package and the Sunny Hills rebuild.

"Click For Kids"

"CLICK FOR KIDS" is here! What does that mean? It's a call to action for families in our community to visit the Issaquah Schools Foundation website and “click” to donate to the foundation. ISF provides funding to support our district schools, helping to bridge the gap between public funding and vital school programs.

How can you help?
• Click for Kids and make your donation by, Friday 10/28. Every donation (big or small) makes a difference!
• Come help out at a “Honk & Wave” drive, raising awareness about ISF’s support and encouraging donations. Two Honk & Waves are scheduled for this month, 10/14 and 10/28. If you’d like to participate, meet in the office at 2:55 (we’ll be done at 4:00). Your kids will enjoy being honked at while they wave for ISF support!

Enrichment Grant Applications Due Oct. 28th

Calling ALL Artists- Reflections Deadline October 28th

Dancers, writers, photographers, composers, and painters: Show us what "Diversity Means....." to you by entering the 2011 REFLECTIONS art contest! All submissions will be celebrated at Young Author's Night in the spring. Winning entries will move on to the district level, and perhaps beyond.... So, get your paints, paper, music, or camera and start creating!

2011-12 School Supply List

The 2011-12 Sunny Hills' School Supply list is now available! CLICK HERE for the complete list of what your child will need.

Watch for LIME GREEN "Nose Count" cards!

District lime green "Nose Count" cards started coming home this week, so check your mail for yours. "Counting noses” each summer is the way the school makes sure that we have enough teachers and supplies on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 30, AND that all student names are included on the class lists when they are published.

When your card arrives, you will need to verify the school's information before the July 29th deadline using one of two easy methods:

1. You can correct or validate the card’s information and return it to the school through the mail (Postage is pre-paid for you).
2. You can go to the District website to the “verify enrollment” link and send an e-mail to the school telling them whether the lime green card information is correct or needs correcting.

Thank you for taking the time to help ensure that school enrollment numbers are correct, that our classrooms are prepared, and that each child’s name appears on a class list for that very important first day of school on August 30!
