Our Sunny Hills T.E.A.M. was very busy during May.  Sunny Hills’ team member, the Issaquah Schools Foundation (ISF), held their annual Nourish Every Mind Luncheon and Breakfast events raising over $742,000!  ISF funding benefits all students in our district and we’re lucky to have them as part of our team!  Click here to learn more about ISF

We also had another wonderful Sunny Hills walk-a-thon at the end of May!  The “Hula Hustle” was a fun, end-of-the-school-year celebration.  We hope everyone had a great time and enjoyed the gorgeous weather.  Our pass the hat fundraising campaign is still a little short of our goal to raise $40,000.  There’s still time to make a donation and help maintain funding for critical programs and events at Sunny Hills next year.  Every dollar helps!

Serving as the Sunny Hills PTA President over the last 2 years has allowed me to meet so many people that truly care about our students.  I want to express my gratitude to the entire Sunny Hills T.E.A.M. of parents and teachers.  Our students have a phenomenal T.E.A.M. of mentors to help them believe in themselves and make their potential a reality! A big thank you also goes out to our Principal, Leslie Lederman, and our Dean of Students, Tia Kleinkopf.  It has been a privilege to work with both of these remarkable women this year.  Leslie has done a phenomenal job in her first year as our principal!

We are fortunate to have so many willing and supportive PTA volunteers who have chaired and/or served on a committee this year.  In fact, over 50% of our volunteers this year were new PTA volunteers.  That is AWESOME!  We love to see current and new volunteers get involved and share their talents and ideas!

Lastly, it has been a pleasure working with the SHPTA board of directors for 2013-14.  They are a fun, creative, and diverse group of people who continually want the best for Sunny Hills’ students.  Our incoming SHPTA co-presidents, Tracy Drake and Amy Gathright, are already busy making plans for next year with the incoming board of directors.  They are all talented, strong leaders who will work hard for our school, and I’m excited for next year’s plans.

Thank you again for making the Sunny Hills T.E.A.M. a successful one this year.  Together, we definitely achieved more!   I hope you enjoy your summer vacation with friends and family and look forward to seeing you all next fall!

Warmly,

Kym Clayton, Sunny Hills PTA President 2013-14
